Soldier Daniel Webster Hill served with Surry County Regiment, North Carolina Militia during the American Revolution.

Daniel was born in 1765. Daniel was the child of William Hill and Susannah Smithers. Daniel passed away in 1826.

Son of William and Susannah Smither Hill. Married Martha Hickman 1779 in NC. Dan served in the Revoultionary War and served in General Nathaniel Greene's Army engaging in many battles, inculding the Battle of Guilford Court House he was fond of recalling. He resided was in a part of Surry County that later became Stokes County and inherited his father's plantation. They moved to TN in 1788. Nashville was the first area they lived in until they built a home, Garden Hill plantation, east of Franklin that sheltered four generations of Hills. They were devout Baptists. There were nine children from this union: Sarah (Sally), Mary, Nancy, William Hickman, Green, Mildred (Milly), twins: Lucinda and Elizabeth (Betsy), and Susannah Smither Hill. Burial at the McConico Church or plot on the family plantation. No markers.
