Newspapers

“The Sterling Kansas Bulletin”, (Sterling, Kansas), 28 Aug 1879, page 2€

Patten Himrod the nominee for Treasurer, was appointed to that office when Mr. Lawrence resigned and was elected at the expiration of Mr. L's term. When Mr. Himrod went into the Treasurer's office, county scrip was worth from seventy-five to eighty cents on the dollar, and at no previous time had it ben paid on presentation, but in less than three weeks after taking the office he commenced paying scrip dollar for dollar as fast as it was presented, and has always continued to do so. He found the books of the office in very bad shape, but at the present time there is no better kept set of books in Kansas. He served all through the war in the 105th Ohio Infantry and was in active service all the time except about ten months which he passed in a rebel prison.

"The Hutchinson News", Hutchinson, Kansas, 1897-Oct-16, page 1

The people of Sterling were never more genuinely surprised than when it was announced this week that Patten Himrod, familiarly known as "Pat", cashier of the First National Bank, has resigned to take effect at once. He goes to Chicago where he has secured a better position.
