Biography

Elizabetha Heyd died young.

"Maria Elisabetha, daughter of Hans Jost Heyd and his wife, Anna Maria, from Bonfeldt, was baptized January 2, 1708. The sponsors were Maria Agatha, wife of Andreas Berger at Bonfeldt; Anna Barbara, daughter of Stoffel Schwinden at Bonfeldt; and Maria Elisabetha, daughter of the late Ludwig Helmstatter at Bonfeldt."

According to German custom this child would have been called "Elisabetha" not Maria, which was only a prefix name, given to several other daughters of Jost Heid. Maria Elisabetha probably died as a child, possibly on the voyage and definitely by 1711 when Jost and Anna Maria had another daughter, they named "Elisabetha" and are listed in a 1712 "Subsistence list" as having only one child. Maria Elisabetha is almost certainly not "Mary" wife of George Bowman, whose wife's name was in fact, "Anna Maria."

Hite-154 and Hite-15 appear to represent the same person because: The two were unmerged matches because of a discrepancy in birthplaces which was cleared up by referring to her father's Hite-8 biography.
