Biography

Julius was born about 1808. Based on the 1850 census he was born in 1808 and in 1806 per the 1860 census. If my research is correct, he moved around quite a bit. There is a Benjamin and a Julius Hite in Lunenburg County, Virginia in 1820; each one old enough to father a son in 1808. [1] Both did. In the 1830 census at Lunenburg Benjamin is gone, but there are two Julius Hites. The one of the right age, Julius I or J, has three men listed of that age (20-30) and no wives or children. Benjamin had enough sons that he could be the father of Julius I or J and the other two men living with him. Julius moved to Washington County, Virginia; married in 1831, and started a family. He lived there until about 1845 when he bought land in Johnson County, Kentucky. He is found in both Floyd and Johnson county records and may have lived near the boundary line between the two counties.

He bought land in 1866 but was not in the 1870 census so probably died during that time. The Julius Hite in 1840 had a son of the right age for Andrew 1850 Floyd County, Kentucky and 1860 Johnson County, Kentucky has a son named Andrew but the ages vary. Andrew's death certificate has his birth in 1834 but census records from 1840 through 1910 list his birth as 1835-1840,1840,1842,1840,1838,1841,and 1835.

Notes

"Jury trial of Susannah Hite", Oct 1857, Johnson County, KY, Court Order, Vol 2, pp 508,509 and 612 and Court Order Vol 3, pp 133,145,255, and 281 as viewed in LDS microfilm 0836800. The trial was an inquiry into the state of mind of Susannah Hite...attorney appointed for her...jury found her to be of unsound mind and she is an idiot... born in said county...father alive and resides in Floyd County, KY... cannot support herself...allowed $50.00 per year...in May term 1860 found to be an idiot and has been destitute of mind since her birth...15 years old... born in what is now Johnson County, her father is alive and her mother is dead...no estate...her father has not sufficient estate to support her...$50.00 per year continued...William Wills her committee...in Nov 1860 allowance continued...in Oct 1863 continue support. [If this was Susan, wife of Andrew Hite, I wonder why the children were not mentioned? Perhaps, and most likely, it was Susannah, dau of Julius Hite of Floyd Co in 1850 and Johnson Co in 1860.]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Julius by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Julius:

I reviewed the info on

William and Mary College Quarterly. I think it is more creditable than Family Search. So disregard my last comment
