Jesse was born in Iowa in 1850, the son of Jesse Hobson and Catherine Daugherty. At the age of 2 years, Jesse and his family joined the Mormon migration.[1] The Hobson family traveled to the Salt Lake Valley with the Benjamin Gardner Company in 1852. The Hobson family included Jesse and his wife Catherine Dougherty, and their children: Lydia Ann, Alma Utillis, Miriam Elizabeth, Henry Platt, Nathan, and Jesse Daugherty.[2]
He married Mary Joannah Lewis.

He passed away in 1922[3] and is buried in the City of Mesa Cemetery, Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona.
