Biography

Jacob Holt's brother Michael was born on 6 May 1729, and is the only known birth date of any of the children of Hans Michael Holt. So if this proves to be true, Jacob's birth date was not likely in 1729.^[1]

20 Feb 1793 Jacob deeded 116 acres of land to his daughter, Hannah Holt, on the north side of Haw River, bordering her brother Israel's land.^[2]

20 July 1793, Jacob deeded 115 acres of land to his son, Israel.^[3]

He died after Sept 5 1803, in Davidson, Tennessee.

Testator (1803): Davidson County, Tennessee: In the name of God, Amen, I, Jacob Holt, being weak but in my proper senses do take this opportunity to dispose of my worldy property as follows, viz-----1st, I recommend my soul to god that gave it and my body to be buried in a christian like manner or at the discresion of my executors---2nd, I give and bequeath to Michael Hufman the tract of land whereon I now live and one cow and calf one bed and furniture, one dish and four plates, one gray mare---3rd, I give and bequeath to Martin Garrett my still with all its utensils that belong to it----4th, all the rest of my estate that has not been yet mentioned to be sold at the highest bidder and after just debts being paid my will is that the balance be equally divided amongst my children, Sarah Farmer and Hannah Farmer Elizabeth Hufman and Mary Garrett----I do hereby appoint constitute Martin Garrett Executor to this my Last Will and Testament making voyd all others heretofore made by me,Witness my hand and seal this fifth day September 1803.
