George Hoover was born on 24 May 1799 in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States, son of Christian Hoover (1776–1850) and Maria Barbara (Harmon) Hoover (1773–1870).

His siblings were:

George died on 12 Jan 1878 in Pennsylvania, United States, aged 78. He was buried in Saint John Lutheran Cemetery, South Mahoning Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.[1]
