Biography

David HOUGH (9 Apr 1790 Roxbury, CT - 26 Aug 1852 Williamstown, NY) served in the War of 1812 in Capt. Imre CASE's Comp., 68th Regiment (Col BENEDICT's) of NY Drafted Militia from 1 July 1812 until his discharge at Ogdensburgh, St. Lawrence Co, NY, on 7 Jan 1813[1]. He again served from 20 Sep 1814 until 10 Nov 1814 under Capt. Gaston G. COMSTOCK, Col Israel COMSTOCK's Regiment (68th). His discharge was destroyed by a small son, not named. David received BLWT 14765-80-50 (1812). After his death, David's widow, Sarah HOUGH, received BLWT 10517-80-55. Sarah applied for pension in 1871 and received WC 1714[2] at least through 1883 in Williamstown, Oswego Co, NY.

On 24 Mar 1813 in Williamstown, Oswego Co, NY, David md Sarah FILKINS (1797 NY - 1883/86 Williamstown, NY). In 1871, the only living witness to their marriage was Lyman HOUGH, 75 years old, and himself a veteran of the War of 1812, having served six weeks at Sackett's Harbor in Capt. Gaston G. COMSTOCK's Comp, Col Israel STODDARD's Regt after the marriage. He lived at Richland in Oswego Co, NY, in 1871. Sarah had seven living ch at the time she applied for pension. Her death date is not known, but she was on the 1883 list of pensioners.

  10. Catherine (25 Oct 1836 NY - 9 Aug 1838)
  11. Horace (11 June 1839 NY - ) in 1901 lived at Grimsby, Ont., Canada, and had md Jane C. FRANK and had ch Emma E.; Louisa; Catherine; Frances; Clara; Lena; and Cora. He was probably listed as Hiram in 1860.
