Biography

George W. House was born 28 Apr 1815 in Bourbon County, Kentucky to George W. House and Elizabeth Hull. George W. House and Martha Allen (daughter of William Allen) were married on 31 Jan 1850 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.[1] [2]

A history of Randolph Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana shows the family of George House Sr (the father of George W. House Jr) came to Randolph Twp in the fall of 1828.[3] The same history provides the additional information that in 1875 George W. House Jr gave $5000. so the Methodists could build a new church for their congregation.

George (age 38) and Martha (age 24) House resided in Randolph Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana in 1850.[4]

Widower George House (45, KY) resided with children Ellin (9, IN) and David (6, IN) in Randolph Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana in 1860.[5]

In 1870, George House (55) resided with son David W. (16) and his daughter Ellen T. (19) and her husband John Beech (30) in Randolph Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana.[6]

George House resided in Randolph Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana in 1880.[7]

George W. House died 29 Sep 1895 and was buried in Romney Cemetery, Romney, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. The tombstone says: Geo W House, Born Apr 28 1815, Died Sept 29 1895.[8]

The family was buried in Romney Cemetery, Romney, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. His wife died 12 Feb 1855. Her tombstone says: Martha Ann, wife of George W. House, Died Feb 12 1855, aged 29 years.[9] His son died 21 Jan 1872. His tombstone says: David Warder, Son of George W. & Martha A. House, Died Jan 21 1872, Aged 18 ys, 24 ds.[10] His daughter died 14 Oct 1873. Her tombstone says: Ellen Tracy, wife of J. N. Beach, and daughter of G. W. & M. A. House, Died Oct. 14 1873, aged 22 Ys, 11 Ms & 24 Ds. The biographical sketch of George W. House says his daughter Ellen was married to Josiah N. Beach and they had one daughter Mary E. Beach. [4]

This George W. House is not the Kentucky born George W. House who resided and died in Carroll County Indiana. This other George W. House was born in Feb 1815 and died in Dec 1874.

Information on the "other" George W. House of Carroll Co IN from Find A Grave shows his tombstone has the birth date Feb. 22, 1815; death Dec. 4, 1874 and was buried Delphi. Carroll County, Indiana

He was the son of John House and Savory Lassiter. Two of George's marriages occurred in Clark Co KY which is where he was probably living about 1835 to about 1850.
