Isaac N. House was born June 2, 1801 in Montgomery country. The "N" does not stand for a middle name, but represents his father's given name, Nicholas. He married Sarah Ames January 2, 1831 at Jordanville, New York[1][2][3]
In the state census of June 1855, Isaac and his family had been resident in Colombia township, Herkimer for three months. Later he was a hotel keeper and grocer along the Erie canal near Little Falls. He died December 25, 1884[4] and is buried in the Bellinger Cemetery, Town of German Flatts, Herkimer, New York.[5] There was a Mary House, aged 19, living with Isaac, Sarah and Matthew at Little Falls in 1870, who possibly was another daughter or else Matthew's wife Mary Casler.
