Biography
Samuel Dexter Houston Sr. was born 11 June 1818 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.

He was the son of Caleb Houston and Elizabeth P. Purdy. Samuel married Mary Jane Rankin, She passed away in 1848. He married Tabitha Kimble in 1850 in La Harpe, Hancock County, Illinois.

Samuel passed away 28 February 1910 in Salina, Saline County, Kansas. He was interred in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Salina County, Kansas.
