Biography

Francis appears on the 1872 Land Tax List for Smith County, Mississippi as follows:

  • Howel, F. M. - 120 acres described as the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4, the SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 and the SW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 19, Township 10, Range 15 West.[1]

He also appears on the 1881 Personal Tax List for Smith County, Mississippi in the town of Zion Hill.[2] And is in Zion Hill again for the 1883 assessment..[3]

He was a member of Masonic Lodge #311-Bunker Hill in Red Hill, Smith County, Mississippi.

Francis is buried in Old Zion Hill Cemetery, Smith County, Mississippi.[4]
