Michael Mitchell Howery (1795-1873)

Prominent Baptist minister in Floyd County Virginia. Rev. Howery was the son of Johann Michael Howery and Christina Barbara Hartman. He married Eleanor Sheridan on Sept. 26, 1816 in Franklin County Virginia. After Eleanor's death in 1861 he married Elizabeth Lee.

Inscription:

"He joined the Primitive Baptist Church May 2, 1822, was licensed to Preach May 6, 1826 and ordained to the Ministry July 3, 1838. He was earnest in his calling & faithful to his mast and died firm in the tenents of his church and in the triumphs of his faith. A kind neighbour, charitable, respected and beloved by all."

He is buried in Pine Creek Cemetery along with other family members.
