Biography

Elisha Hutson (Hudson) was born 24 Sep 1744 in Bolton, Worcester, Massachusetts Bay to John Hudson (abt.1713-1799) and his wife Elizabeth (McAllister) Hudson (1720-1786).[1]

He married Susannah (Brigham) Hudson (abt.1755-abt.1840) on 4 Oct 1770 in Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States.[2] They had several children:

Elisha appears to have fought in the Revolutionary War.[7] By 1800, the family had migrated north toward Canada and were living in Halifax, Windham, Vermont.[8]

Sometime prior to his death, he and his wife, along with some of their children immigrated to Upper Canada.

Elisha Hudson died the 20th day of April, 1815, according to his wife's application for penion.[9]

Research Notes

There are two (brothers), and possibly four men named Elijah, Elisha or Eli Hudson, confirmed in the Bolton and Worcester, Massachusetts Bay area in 1775. Care will need to be taken not to conflate them. Crawford-15512 11:56, 10 November 2023 (UTC)

In the pension application documents, his son Charles makes reference to him being of New Hampshire and his marriage record is confirmed to be in Massachusetts. His wife, Susannah, mentions they had lived in the Province of Upper Canada, and at the time of the application she was residing in Arcadia, Wayne County, New York. She was not granted the pension, as there was no evidence that Elisha had served as stated, so the application was rejected. Crawford-15512 14:45, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
