Reese Hughes was born in 1740 in Goochland, Virginia. He was married three times and had five sons and five daughters. He died in 1808 in Bedford, Virginia, at the age of 68.
Note: Hughes Ancestors: There are documented sources for his marriage to Lucy Gardner, their children and his death in Bedford County, VA. He is allegedly descended from Captain John Rice Hughes who married a Powhatan Princess and ran a trading post on the James River near the place it is now crossed by the Blue Ridge Parkway but a definite link has not been discovered. There are records of many Rice/Rees/Reese Hughes, sometimes combined with the name Jesse and/or with the appendage Jr. or Sr. It is impossible to determine which of these appear in marriage records. Thus far, I have been unable to link this Rice/Rees Hughes to a set of parents.
