Biography

George Hughes was born in Bexhill, Sussex, England.

George Hughes was born around 1857 in Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex, England to Thomas Francis Hughes. A birth registration has not been located and nothing is known of his early childhood at this time.

George married Emily Ann Allen on 25 Dec 1878 at St Thomas a Becket church in Brightling, Sussex.^{[1] [2] [3]} They had seven children:

George and Emily initially raised their family in Brightling.^{[4] [5]}

Sometime between the birth of their daughters Flora in 1891 and Olive in 1894, the family moved to Bexhill-on-Sea. But in 1901, George was living in Folkestone, Kent.^[6]

George worked as a bricklayer throughout his life.

George Hughes died on 2 Aug 1904 at Hove, Sussex.^[7]
