Biography

John Hull was born November 18, 1756[1][2][3]at Durham, Connecticut; the son of Joseph and Sybil (Coe) Hull.[1][2][3]Joseph was born April 29, 1716 and died July 14, 1786.[1]

Marriage

John married Sally Baldwin.[1][2]on February 4, 1786.[2]Sally was born on November 2, 1765[1]in Durham, the daughter of Noah Baldwin.[2]About 1786 John and Sally settled on the Fan Wagoner farm.[1]

There were nine original members of the Presbyterian Church of Durham, and John was one of them.[1]

Children

John and Sally had six children, of which five grew to maturity.[1]All of them were very influential in the town of Durham.

  1. Sally was born September 1, 1788 and died October 29, 1834. She married Oswald Root and Harry Avery.[2]
  2. Eleazer[2]or spelled Elizur[1]was born March 2, 1791 and died October 23, 1859. He married Anna Strong in 1811.[2]Elizur was a successful farmer.[1]
  3. Hannah was born October 13, 1794 and died July 16, 1841. In 1812 she married Lemuel Hitchcock.[2]
  4. Luman was born November 3, 1797 and died May 28, 1865. In 1816 he married Elizabeth Peck.[2]Luman was a very successful farmer.[1]
  5. Anson was born May 15, 1801 and died August 21, 1802.[2]
  6. Nancy was born May 21, 1806 and died August 15, 1872.

In 1824 she married John C. Peck.[2]

His grandsons from Elizur were Lyman A., David B., John and Dwight. From Lumen; Anson P. and Theodore P. He had 20 granddaughters.[1]

John Hull died October 29, 1832.[1]
