Rebecca Hume was born May 16, 1798[1], the daughter of Eli Dawson Hume and Anne Williams [2][3]
On 9 November 1813 she married Ebenezer Estabrooks, son of Ebenezer Estabrooks and Martha Fletcher of Gagetown, NB[4]. Ebenezer died in 1814. The couple had no children, but the families appear to have remained close. Some of her children married Estabrooks, and Reverend Elijah Estabrooks is given mention in her obituary[5]
On January 18, 1817, she married Reuben Hoben, the son of Reuben and Elizabeth Ebbett Hoben of Canning NB[6][7], and had children[8][9] , including:
George, 1818–1896 who married Sarah Estabrooks
John, 1818–1895, who married 3 times, and moved to N.Y.
Mary, 1825–1908, who married Charles Gunter
Elizabeth Ann, who married John Jones
Reuben (Lt. Col.) 1821–1877, who married Elizabeth Curry [10][11]
Martha, who married Robert Davis
Rebecca, 1831–1879, who married Jesse Estabrooks
Joseph, 1830–1909, who married Elizabeth Estabrooks
Charles, who married Elizabeth Plummer
Thomas Emory Hoben, born 26 August, 1839, who married Frances Babbitt); and died in 1910[12]
