Hi,

What are your indications that Nancy Sally (Brewster) Hurd [uncertain] may not be the mother of Tristram Hurd . Her husband seems to have remarried to Mary Horn, but Mary's child was not born until after 1797 Ninteen years after the birth of Trustrum.

Hi Tom.

This is what Charles Samuel Candage in his Heard-Hurd Genealogy had to say about Tristram Hurd' s wife

"The name of his wife is not definitely known, although some claim that she was the daughter of Samuel and ---- (Hanson) Brewster, who lived on the road between Rochester, N.H. and Portland, Me. Others say that her name was Nancy (----), Harmony, ME. Vital Records show that Sally Heard (note spelling) the mother of Isaiah (their fifth son), d. Aug 1824 at he age of 73 years. This would make her b. circa 1751. This town record is the best proof we have of old Tristram Hurd's wife's given name. As no mention is made of Tristram when Sally died in Aug. 1824, I have to believe that Tristram had d. before that date, that is, after 1808 and before 1824.

I have a copy of the application of Olive (Jenkins) Davis to the D.A.R. On that she states that Tristram Heard m. about 1780 Somersworth, NH, Mary Horn, who was b. 24 May 1765, probably in Somersworth, NH. and that she d. 18 Jan,1844, also probably in Somersworth, NH. This record also shows that this Mary Horn was buried in the Somersworth, N.H. Methodist Church Cemetery. There is just no way that this Mary Horn, b. 1765 could have been the wife of this Tristram Hurd. She would have only been (8) years of age when Tristram's earliest children were born. I firmly believe that Tristram Hurd's one (and only) wife was Sally (--), shown above, D.A.R. record notwithstanding."
