Biography
Robert Sparke Hutchings was baptised in 1781 in Dittisham, Devon, England. He was the son of John Hutchings and Sarah.[1]
Robert Sparke Hutchings, son of John Hutchings of Dittisham, Devon, cleric, enrolled at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University on 23 Nov Oct 1798, age 17. He was rector of Dittisham in 1815.[2]
He went to India as chaplain, and was listed in the 1826 East India Register and Directory as Rev Robt. Sparke Hutchings, Chaplain.[3]
He married Elvira Phipps on 15 May 1818 in Barrackpore, West Bengal, India.
Their children included:
Robert Sparke Hutchings, born 18 Dec 1820 in Prince of Wales Island, Bengal, India, son of Robert Sparke Hutchings and Elvira.[4]
He is believed to have died around 20 April 1827 on Prince of Wales Island, East Indies. His will was probated on 19 Sep 1828.[5]
