Mary (Ibbitson) Chapman migrated from England to Nova Scotia.

William Chapman, Mary, and their family, sailed from the Port of Hull England on March 14,1774. Their reason for coming was that the rent was too high and the "necessaries of life too dear". ^[3]

They arrived at Fort Cumberland, Cumberland, Nova Scotia in 1774. ^[4] The family settled in Point de Bute, Nova Scotia (present-day New Brunswick), nearby the fort.

Date of death unknown but before 1788^[5] based on the remarriage of William Chapman to Jane (Thompson) Carter about 1788. Mary's name is listed on her daughter, Jane's, head stone in the Point de Bute Methodist Cemetery. ^[6]
