Research Notes

His name changed through the years. A birth index record shows his middle name the same as his last name (Nelson Ingle Ingle).[1] He was enumerated in the 1930 and 1950 Censuses as Nelson Ingle Jr[4][5] and identified that way in his father's 1980 obituary.[6]
In 1940 when he registered for the draft,[7] he used Nelson Junior Ingle and his military gravestone shows that name.[3] That was not just a military error that got carried over. He also used the name in the newspaper announcement of his daughter's marriage in 1976[8] and his obituary.[9]
