Biography

Esquire of the Body (shield-bearer) to King James III .[2]
Rebuilt the Castle of Innes.[3]
Confirmed in the lands of Innes, Slelcow and Garbmaw in September 1470.[4]
Supported King James III in the rebellion of 1488. Was granted lands in Moray (Walkmyltoun, Haltoun de Lambride, Blakhillis, Halch de Depil) after the skirmish at Blackness Castle , on the condition that he remained loyal.[5] Fought for the king at Sauchieburn . After the battle and the death of the king he was summoned to parliament to answer a charge of treason, but the charges were later dropped.[6]
In August 1490 the 17 year old King James IV visited Innes.[7]
Died about 1491.[8]
Research Notes
Second marriage with Margaret of Culan, probably widow of William Rolland, by 1473.[9] [10]
His sons in order of birth were given in his will as Alexander, Robert, William, George, James and Thomas.[11]
