Biography

Joseph Isaac was born about 1725 in Prince George's, Maryland, son of Richard Isaac (~1679 - 1757) and Sarah (Pottenger) Isaac (1688 - >1743).

His siblings were:

  1. Mary (Isaac) Peach (1712 - 1759)
  2. Sarah (Isaac) Ridgley (1714 - 1789)
  3. Rachel Isaac (1716 - 1718)
  4. Kezia Isaac (1719 - 1749)
  5. Richard Isaac (1720 - 1792)
  6. Drucilla (Isaac) Fowler (1723 - 1810)
  7. Jemima (Isaac) Jacob (1727 - >1786)

Joseph married Hannah Bryant (~1729 - 1799) in 1763 in Prince George's County, Maryland. Their children were:

  1. Richard Isaac (~1760 - 1836)
  2. John Hancock Isaac (1774 - 1855).

Joseph died on 24 Oct 1774 in Queen Anne Parish, Prince George's aged ~49.


Joseph was a gentleman planter with a big personality. His plantation was "Stony Plains" and it consisted of many acres. He also served as Justice of the Peace.

Both his death date and the probate date for the will are in the will document. Death date near the top and probate date near the bottom.
