1864 William Jackson, Jr. fought for the Union during the American Civil War. Rebels killed Jackson, Jr. when he was travelling back to his home in Missouri from the war. Rebels burned out the Jackson family. They escaped with their lives. William Jackson, Sr. and the family moved in with the John Tindle family three miles north of Ozark. Finley Creek ran through Tindle land.
