Mary Virginia Jackson was born on 24 December 1831 in Jane Lew, Harrison County, Virginia, the sixth of seven known children and the youngest of three daughters of Stephen and Hannah Bailey Jackson.

On 28 May 1886, when she was fifty-four, Mary Virginia died of unknown causes in Jane Lew.
