Winfield Jackson was born on 13 January 1862 in Jane Lew, Lewis County, Virginia, the tenth of twelve children and the fifth of six sons of [[Jackson-11924|Joseph Blackwell] and Emily Lorentz Jackson.[1]
On 24 January 1889, about ten days after his twenty-seventh birthday, he married Laura Eleta Miller in Taylor County, West Virginia. She bore him three known children, all daughters.[2]
On 30 January 1935, about two weeks after his seventy-seventh birthday, and by this time a widower, Winfield died of a hemorrhage caused by carcinoma of the bladder in the hospital in Clarksburg, Harrison County, Virginia.
