Biography

Susanna James was born, probably at Kensington, New Hampshire, about 1726 (from age at death), the daughter of Edmund James and Priscilla Sherburne; died of throat distemper at Hampton, New Hampshire, 11 Aug 1736. [1]

Susanna James is named in her father's will, dated "ye ninth year of King George ye second his reign [11 Jun 1735-10 Jun 1736]", along with her sisters, Mary and Ruth. Susanna was named second, after Mary (Sept 11, 1732) and before Ruth (March 29, 1735). Having died in 1736, she was not named in the Guardianship of Edmund's other surviving children (Mary James, minor more than 14 years old; and Ruth James, less than 14 years old) for whom Abraham Moulton of Kensington was named Guardian August 31, 1748. Susanna WAS named in her father's will written December 10, 1735, along with her sisters Mary and Ruth. Susanna was named 2nd, so likely she was born after Mary (Sept 11, 1732) and before Ruth (March 29, 1735). She was not named in the Guardianship of of Edmund's other children (Mary James, minor more than 14 years old; and Ruth James, less than 14 years old) for whom Abraham Moulton of Kensington was named Guardian August 31, 1748; so likely Susanna was born about 1733 and died before 1748 (reference: Ann Tilden Morton, The Descendants of Edmund James Through His Son Benjamin of Hampton, New Hampshire (The James House Association, Hampton, NH, 2003), pp. 3, 4

Thanks for this correction! I have used your comment to correct Susanna's profile. Not many people have Morton's, Descendants of Edmund James handy and I consider myself fortunate to own a copy. Are we, perhaps, James cousins?
