Giles Harrelson married Elizabeth Jeter. They probably married in Covington, Alabama. Their first child was born in 1874, so I believe they probably married in 1873 or 1874 but I cannot find an exact date.
In 1880, they made their home in Coffee, Alabama. Giles ran a farm, while Lissie cared for the children.[2]
Elizabeth was mentioned on a memorial in Antioch Church Cemetery, Antioch, Covington County, Alabama, United States with a death date of 25 January 1897. However, both her date of birth and death are incorrect - see Conflicts heading below.[3]
Conflict
Her headstone says she was born in 1862. Census data says she was born about 1859, and she appears on the 1860 census as a baby. I believe 1859 is the correct date.
Her headstone says she passed away in 1897, but I believe that is in error (as is her birthdate) because a newspaper clipping puts her death around 1891. [4] Her husband remarried in 1891 - the month after the newspaper announced her death.
