Biography

Charles Samuel George Johnson was born in 1844 in Nassau, Bahamas to Jeremiah Frederick Higgs Johnson and Elizabeth Matilda Kelly Johnson. He was baptized by Reverend William Maclure 18 January 1845 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Nassau.

He married Mary Amanda Watlington, daughter of Francis Benjamin Watlington and Emeline Matilda Johnson Watlington,15 July 1867, in Monroe County, Florida. The couple had children Emeline Eliza, Lena, Earl, Frances, and Charles Johnson.

Dr. Charles Johnson died of yellow fever at Key West, Florida in December 1887. He was buried there in the City Cemetery.
