Biography

Sarah Sophia Johnson, daughter of Timothy Johnson and Dimis Welch, was born on 29 April 1820 in Keene, Essex county, New York; [1] or on 29 July 1820 in Essex county, New York; [2] or on 22 April 1820 in New York; [3] or on 2 April 1820 in Keane, Essex county, New York. [4]

Sarah was wed to George Givens Johnston on 1 January 1841 in Rasmus, Hancock county, Illinois. [5]

On 6 February 1846 George took a second wife, Mahaley Dudley. George Givens Johnston died on 9 June 1850 at Platte River, Nebraska, leaving two widows behind to mourn him. [6]

About 1850 Sarah was wed secondly to William F. Mills. He was born on 20 August 1829 in Jefferson county, Tennessee, and died on 4 October 1853 in Manti, Sanpete county, Utah. [7]

In 1853 Sarah was wed thirdly to John Henry Tuttle. He was born on 19 June 1821 in New York, New York, and died on 21 July 1905 in Manti, Sanpete county, Utah. [8].

Sarah Sophia Johnson Johnston Mills Tuttle died on 12 February 1895 in Manti, Sanpete county, Utah territory, and was buried at Manti Cemetery. [9]

Obituary

DEATH NOTICE: Another death is to be recorded this week. Sarah, wife of John Tuttle, passed quietly away on last Tuesday evening. She was sick but one day and died very suddenly. She was an old resident of this city and a faithful Temple worker. Her presence will be missed in many places. The funeral services were held in the Tabernacle on Thursday after which the remains were interred in the city cemetery. [10]
