To the Justices of the County Court of Duplin
The petition of Sophia Johnston respectfully sheweth that her husband Amos Johnston late of said Duplin County dec'd departed this life sometime in the month of July 1802 [sic] being seized possessed at the time of his death of a large real and personal estate.
Your petitioner further sheweth that the said Amos Johnston her late husband made & published his last will and Testament in writing which has been proved by Nathan Waller who was named as an executor in said will and she further sheweth that she has dissented from said will in Open Court in due form of laws and has also prayed dower &c in the estate of her said husband.
The prayer of said petitioner therefore is that she may be allowed dower and a distributive share in said estate, and that the sheriff may be directed to lay off her dower and a distributive share in the estate of her said late husband according to the act of assembly in such case made provided. And your pet. will pray &c.

Pursuant to an order of the worshipful Court of Duplin County at April Term 1802 to lay off to Sophia Johnson widow of Amos Johnson Deceased her dower and distribution of the estate of said dec'd. We the Jury convened and find that the widow has sold her dower to William Johnson heir to said deceased's land. Therefore find unnecessary to lay it off We find fifteen Negroes particularly expressed in the will of said dec'd which we valued to three thousand Four Hundred and Ten Dollars and other property valued to Four Hundred and Ninety-three dollars and thirty cents ammounting in the whole to 3903 dollars 40 cents out of which sum the widow is intitled to one seventh part ammounting to 357 dollars 61 cents. We have valued to the widow undivided property to the ammount of Eighty-three Dollars and Eighty cents to be charged to her in the {torn} of sales of the undivided part of the estate. The legates have given their obligation to pay to the widow to the property willed to them respectively the full ammount of her dividend which obligations she has consented to receive. All which is submitted May 4 1802

Pursuant to an order of the worshipful court of Duplin County at April Term 1804
We the committee appointed to divide the personal estate of Amos Johnson deceased among the several claimants agreeable to the will of said dec'd.
Report that the several claimants have receiv'd their respective share of said personal estate agreeable to the will except the sum of £307..16..1 which appears to be in the hands of the Executors you a former settlement out of which Peggy Waller appears to be intitled to a sum of £50 as a separate legacy and that Nathan Waller one of the Exe'r charges nine shillings for the expense of this day, which leaves a ballance of £ 257..7..1. It also appears that the widow had of the personal estate valued to her, to the amount of £ 41..18. What with the money on hand after paying Peggy Waller her separate legacy ammounts to £ 299..5..1 which by the will is to be divided as follows: Viz., £ 42..15 to the widow, to Mary Harris, Virginia Quin, Peggy Waller, Sarah Murray and William Johnson each. Also £ 42..15 to the heirs of Keziah Hardesta deceased.
