Eliza Patience Johnston was born February 2, 1838 to Charles Sidney Preston Johnston and Maria Jesusa Estefana Cantu in Port Lavaca, Republic of Texas. She married Alexander Franklin Bell on August 24, 1857 in Gillespie County, Texas. The produced fifteen children: Rebecca Jane, Nancy Mahala, Julia "Juda" Franklin, John Wilson, Celice "Sealy" Josephine, Charles Adolphus, Mary Antoinette, James Alexander, William Edmund "Buck", George Nelson, infant twin to George Nelson, Henry Green, Albert David, Joseph Johnson and Mark. Eliza passed away August 18, 1904 in Cliff, Grant County, New Mexico. She is buried in Mesa Cemetery on the Upper Gila, Grant County, New Mexico.
