Biography

Born on 1706 to Thomas Jones.


1715 - John Jones deeded to his nephew, Samuel Jones, Jr. Samuel owned 61 slaves. He had 100 head of cattle and planted rice, indigo, cotton, etc. He cut his timber to make barrels 1753 - Samuel Jones, Jr. and his wife Susannah leased (one year lease) Jones Island and Haulover Creek to his step-father, Ebenezer Simmons, 2,200 acres on Jones Island with their house. The name was changed to Simmons Island. Ebenezer owned 40 slaves. Reference: Book A3, p. 493..

Vol. 9, p. 391, Vol. 13. p 704..[4]

1775 - James Simmons deeded to his son, Francis Simmons, rice planter. He owned 159 slaves.1816 - Frances Simmons sold to William Seabrook. Reference: 1816 - Estate of Francis Simmons to William Seabrook - RMC Office, Book 08, p 170..

1819 - William Seabrook deeded to his sons, William, Jr. and George Washington Seabrook, Simmons Island now named Seabrook Island ( 2,326 acres exclusive of marsh and sand hills Reference: 1863 - RMC Office, Book 9, pp. 170-171.
