"I believe your Ellender to be a daughter of Arthur Goodman, b.1787 VA, and his wife Hannah, b. 29 Dec.1795 in MD or VA. Their children were

  1. John Wesley Goodman, b.19 Jan.1813 in Elizabethtown, Hardin co.,KY, d.aft.1870 in Howell Co., MO., married Patience Logsdon in KY and had 8 children;
  2. Anna Eliza Goodman, b. Oct. 26, 1815 in Hart Co., KY, md Simpson Reynolds 1834;
  3. Ellender Goodman, b. July 19, 1816 (See note);
  4. Amos J. Goodman, b.13 Feb. 1818 in Grayson Co., KY, md. America Reynolds;
  5. Thomas Goodman, b.Sept. 1821 in KY, md. Nancy V.?;
  6. Elizabeth Goodman, b. June 20, 1825 in Grayson co., KY;
  7. Nancy Mary Goodman, b. Feb. 8, 1829;
  8. Sarah D. Goodman, b.Nov. 14, 1829; and
  9. Martha M. Goodman, born 28 Aug. 1830.

These names were all recorded in a Goodman family bible in July 1840 so may not be accurate.Your Ellender's name was recorded in the bible as "Nelda", but I believe it to be your Ellender as that is a family name and Nelda isn't. My ancestor was Amos J. Goodman and he named one of his daughters Ellender. That name is also found in a related line - Reynolds. I'd like to know the children of your Ellender Goodman Logsdon. I believe our Arthur Goodman to be a son of John Goodman and Epharilla Thorpe. Arthur died after 1850, probably in Butler Co., KY. Please e-mail me directly and I can give you lots more information." Regard child Nancy Mary above: I believe there may be a transcription error here and a missing child. I have DNA matches to

  1. Nancy J GOODMAN b. 08 FEB 1829 who married James White POTEET and
  2. Mary GOODMAN b 08 FEB 1829 who married Thomas POTEET

Nancy and Mary must have been twins. Both are age 21 in 1850 census.

Sarah Dotson GOODMAN married Greenberry SEGO

Notes

Personal DNA research has proven Hannah's maiden name was JONES.

Hannah husband, Arthur GOODMAN, signed the marriage bond for James Oliver LOGSDON and Sally JONES in Hardin Co., KY 19 Mar 1813

I have seen her listed as Hannah Miriam and Miriam Hannah, but I have not seen one record with this name. Perhaps Miriam was a first wife?

I have dozens of DNA matches that descend from James Oliver LOGSDON and Sally JONES. My LOGSDON connection is through Dennis REYNOLDS and his wife Hannah LOGSDON, daughter of John LOGSDON and Osilla KELLEY.

Other DNA matches extended from Arthur GOODMAN and Hannah JONES, back through George Webb JONES and his wife Mary HARRIS.

The next generation of DNA matches connect to Mary HARRIS' parents, Christopher Overton HARRIS and his second wife, Mary Elizabeth DABNEY.

See MtDNA of Tanya PEYTON and Teddi LANE. There is an error in one of these lines. Tanya and Teddi should have the same MtDNA haplogroup. I believe Tanya's line is incorrect.

Lucinda Logsdon's is likely attached to the wrong parents. Shown in her biography are two censuses from 1850.

  1. John Logsdon and Nancy A Jones's daughter, Lucinda, is living with them in Hart Co., KY in1850
  2. Lucinda (Logsdon) ABRAHMS is a married woman living with her husband in Madison Co., KY.

She may be the Lucy Logsdon who is the daughter of William LOGSDON and Elizabeth BEHEIMER. I noticed William LOGDON was living in Estill Co., KY in 1810. Lucinda Logsdon married Joseph Abrams's in Estill Co., KY in 1830.

William Logsdon was the son of DAR Patriot Edward Logsdon who married Mary Polly BROWN.
