Biography

Nancy Judd was born in 1782-1783-1784-1785 according to all the various records and assumptions being used (with 1782, Dec 1783, and 04 Apr 1784 commonly seen without convincing substantiations) (see research notes), in North Carolina (most likely Reddies River, Wilkes County) (see research notes), as one of ten children born to Nathaniel Judd and Elizabeth Owens.

She married Archibald E Owen (abt.1785-1869) (aka Archibee Owen) on 22 Dec 1810 in Wilkes County, North Carolina showing bondsman Johnson Owen and witness Jno. McCord.[1][2]

Four children were born to this union: Susannah (Owen) Darnell (abt.1811-1885) (1811-1885), Rebecca A (Owen) Moore (1814-1880)(1813-1897), Charlotte (Owen) Darnell (1817-1891) (1817-1891), and Reuben Owen (1820-1899) (1820-1899). (See individual profiles)

In 1850, Nancy (66) and Archibald (65) were living in their home in Little Rock, Kendall, IL along with their son, Reuben Owen (1820-1899) (30) and his wife, Lucinda (Ryon) Owen (1823-1898) and two grandchildren - George (5) and William (2).[3]

In 1860 "Ash" (73) and Nancy (75) were living alone in their home in Little Rock (postal service came through Bristol, IL).[4]

She lost her husband on 1 Nov 1869. They were living in Little Rock at the time (His exact location of death is not yet known.) He was buried at Griswold Cemetery in Plano, Kendall, IL.[5]

Nancy died six months later, at age 86, on 11 May 1870 in Kendall County, Illinois, and was buried at the Griswold Cemetery in Plano, Kendall, IL.[6]l

Research Notes

BIRTH
Date of birth vacillates ... 1782, Dec 1783, and 04 Apr 1784 have all been seen without resolution. Location of birth seems to stay constant as being in Reddies River, Wilkes, NC.. Need better substantiation for both date and place.
MOTHER's MAIDEN NAME
There is as much evidence that her married surname was OWEN as there is for the name OWENS. Need better substantiation for resolution.
Spelling of Husband's Surname: OWEN
HUSBAND's DATE of DEATH
There is a probate record that addresses an Archibald Owen/Owens (both spellings run through all 50 pages) as if he was deceased prior to 1869 - I've lost the source, just mentioning it here because I referenced his death prior to hers. Would love to have someone else confirm that his death date is correct.

Actully just saw this without a response. I must have corrected earlier. It got there during my "learning curve" days (not knowing that once you add a name to the preferred data field it turns to anonymous forever unless you double the given name - in place as given name AND as preferred name. Sorry. Bottom line ... I've handled. Thanks for any input. I'm a team player.

I'm not sure why the term "anonymous" is shown as the name of Nancy Owen. Would it be possible to remove "anonymous"? Thanks.
