Franz was born in 1924 in former Yugoslavia. Franz Kaiser was in the Afrika Korps in June 1941. He was a POW in Egypt camp 374. Then lived in Wolfsegg, Austria where he helped build the Flukolager in Vöcklabruck. He was a blacksmith and carpenter by trade. He moved to Australia in 1954 with his young family. None of his relatives ever came to Australia. He worked afternoon shift as a foreman for Harvester International. He built two family homes and helped other German families who had come to Australia by opening up his home to them. He was good with his hands and could build anything from nothing. He passed away in 1969 in a fatal car accident where the car he was driving was hit head on by a coke cola truck. [1]
