Elizabeth Ann Kelly was the firstborn child of nine children of Thomas Moses Kelley and Susan Harris. She was born on April 16, 1856, in Carroll, Georgia. Over the next 24 years, she was followed by four sisters and four brothers. Like most of my ancestors, her father was a farmer. They were not owners of enslaved people, but he may have served in the Confederacy. If so, he mustered in as a lieutenant and mustered out as a captain.
Elizabeth married William Washington Brooks on June 27, 1869, when she was 17 years old, and he was 19 years old. Over the next 15 years, they had three daughters and two sons. Their third daughter, Pearlie Ellen Estelle Brooks is my great-grandmother.
She died on March 5, 1910, and is buried at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Senoia, Coweta, Georgia.
