Heman Kendall was born 20 May 1740 in Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA. This text comes from Memorial of Josiah Kendall, one of the first settlers of Sterling, Mass.
"Heman Kendall resided in that part of the town of Sterling known as the Leg, and a portion of his farm was bounded by the Holden line. I am unable to gather anything from the records concerning him of a public nature save that he went from the town as a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and was stationed at New York. Time has obliterated all personal indicents in his history worthy of record, but I am told that he was considered one of the most humorous members of the family, loving to tell and to hear a good story. This characteristic was noticeably present in his grandson Heman. He died intestate. The inventory of his estate was, real estate, "3,000; personal property, $1,125.51. I regret that could not obtain his autograph."
The DAR Patriot Database includes Heman Kendall Ancestor number A064552, but it does not record his servicein New York mentioned above. It provides "PATRIOTIC SERVICE, PRIVATE" and under Service Description: "1) MEMBER OF COMMITTEE"
Heman Kendall was buried in the Legg Cemetery, Sterling, Worcester County, MA.
