At an unknown date and place he married Ruhama Moore and they are said to have had twenty-four children, including

  2. Thomas Kendall
  3. James Kendall III
  4. Hosea Kendall
  5. Ruhama Kendall
  6. Ruhama Kendall
  7. William G. Kendall
  8. Elijah Kendall.
On 28 December 1824, when he was about sixty-one, James died of unknown causes in Scott, Adams County, Ohio.

A. James Kendall Jr., son of of James Sr., and Ann (Lucas) Kendall, was born in Maryland in 1763, and died in Adams County, Ohio, in December, 1824. In or about 1784 he married, in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Ruhama Moore, daughter of Aaron Sr. and Mary (Prather) Moore. She died in Adams County in 1842. Her brothers Hosea, Aaron Jr., and Henry Moore, and her sister, Martha (Moore) Hannah (wife of William Hannah), were also among the first settlers in Adams County.

In Caldwell's Atlas of Adams County, page 20, it is stated that Kames and Ruhama (Moore) Kendall were the parents of twenty-four children, eighteen of whom were living in 1880, "several of them in Winchester Township". This statement has been repeated in other works. However, only eleven children of James and Ruhama Kendall are listed in deeds in the Adams County Recorder's office covering the disposition of James Kendall's land. They are as follows, with their marriages as shown in Adams County deed and marriage records (order of birth approximate): 1. Aaron Kendall, married, Oct 24, 1804, in Adams County, Margaret (Peggy) Larwick, widow. 2. William Kendall, married Rachel Brown, May 29, 1806. 3. James Kendall, married Mary (Polly) McNemar, July 8, 1810. 4. Hosea Kendall, married Elizabeth Fowler, August 21, 1815. 5. Thomas Kendall, married Elizabeth Lucas, Nov 7, 1811, [Highland Co. Ohio] [children: Mahala, Sarah Anne, Joshua, Allie, Mary, Benjamin, Lucinda and Thomas ] 6. Ruhama Kendall, married William Querry, Nov 29, 1814. He died prior to Mar 3, 1848, and she married second Andrew Robertson. 7. Samuel Kendall (b 1799) married Jan 18, 1820, Sarah McColm (b 1798) daughter of John McColm. 8. Mary (Polly) Kendall, (b. 1802) married William Fenton, Oct 8, 1818. 9. Benjamin Kendall (b 18030 married Christina (Tenah) Moore, Nov 4, 1824. 10. Elisha Kendall married Abigail McColm, daughter of John McColm, Feb 8 1825. 11. Elijah Kendall, a twin of Elisha, he was unmarried in 1826.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

Kendall-2484 and Kendall-224 appear to represent the same person because: these appear to be the same. further clarification on James' death date is need are they based on the same source or perhaps did he die in 1824 and and his probate wasn't completed until 1826. Is one date "before this date" and the other "after this date"?
