Gilbert (Kennedy) Kennedy Second Earl of Cassillis is a member of Clan Kennedy.

Gilbert Kennedy, 2nd Earl of Cassillis was the son of David Kennedy, 1st Earl of Cassillis and Agnes Borthwick.[1]

He married Lady Isabel Campbell, daughter of Archibald Campbell, 2nd Earl of Argyll and Lady Elizabeth Stuart.[1]

He succeeded to the title of 4th Lord Kennedy and to the title of 2nd Earl of Cassillis on 9 September 1513.[1]

He was invested as a Privy Counsellor Scotland to King James V.[1]

In 1525 he was tried for the murder of Martin Kennedy of Lochland, but was acquitted through the influence of his brother-in-law, the Earl of Argyll.[1] In December 1526 he was a prisoner in the hands of the Douglas faction, after having joined the unsuccessful attempt of the Earl of Arran to rescue the young King James V.[1]

He was murdered between 24 August 1527 and 30 August 1527 at Pow Burn, Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland, possibly by Sir Hugh Campbell of Loudon.[1]

This is confusing. I wanted to see if President Kennedy and our Esther Kennedy who married James Ross had a common ancestor. I did find Gilbert Kennedy who married Isabel Campbell. Problem they are nearly a century apart!!!. The one I found was born in 1593 in Maypole, Ayrshire, Scotland the Son of Gilbert Kennedy. Where as our Gilbert was born in 1485 and died in 1527. Our Gilbert's father was David. They both fathered Thomas and Hugh. Ours had more children.

There is no evidence of most of these children being from these parents.

The only records found are for Janet, David and Gilbert.
