Biography

William was born March 28, 1777, the son of Heman Kenney and Ruth Doane of Barrington, Shelburne, Nova Scotia[1] [2]

On December 7, 1797, he married Elizabeth Kendrick, daughter of Joseph and Hannah Kendrick of Barrington[1] [2], and their children included:

  1. Prince William, born December 27, 1798, who died in 1803[1]
  2. Jedidah, born December 2, 1800, who married Samuel Kimball, Jr on March 30, 1826, son of Samuel Kimball and Mary Doane, who was lost at sea June 6, 1827[1] [2]
  3. Prince William, born in 1824, who died in 1825[1]
  4. Eliza, born July 14, 1806. who married Barzillai Hopkins on December 25, 1825[1] [2]
  5. Lavinia born December 16, 1808, who married Archelaus Crowell on May 15, 1828, and then married Joshua P. Trefry of Yarmouth on November 29, 1860[1] [2]
  6. Heman born September 14, 1811, who married Helena Kimball daughter of Samuel. Their children included Lavinia (who married James Cunningham); Albert (who married Eliza Kenney, daughter of Richard); Benjamin (who married Jane Nickerson); James A, (who married Anna Godfrey); Maria (who married Charles Edmund Ross); and William.[1] [2]
  7. Isaac, born May 9, 1814, who died May 20 1814[1]
  8. Matilda, born 1815, who died in 1822[1]
  9. William, born 1817, who died in 1818[1]
  10. Ruth, born November 18, 1819, who married William Kenney son of Heman Kenney of Argyle[1] [2]

William Kenney died September 9, 1835[1], no further information found[3] William was drowned in the bay not far from where he lived at Doctors Cove (source Lost Mariners Of Shelburne County)
