Will of John Kilgore

In the name of ___________________. I John Kilgore of the County of Hancock a…._________ Georgia, being in my right mind and of Sou……. And calling to mind that it is appointed for…..___________ to die, do on this day of June in ………..____ 1820. Make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following ………..

Lend to my beloved wife Elizabeth Kilgore during her natural life or widowhood that part of land which lies on the north side of the road leading from Shivey Mills to Powelton where I now live and I also loan her 3 negroes Sereny and her 2 children Jim and Levi after her death the negroy to be equally divided between John Kilgore and Abigal Lee.

Item: I give and bequeath to my said wife 1 st choice of one of my horses and first choice of a cow and calf, also two bed and furniture and one trunk. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Charley Kilgore all the old track of land containing byest imation 41 acres more or less but my said wife is to have the plantation where I now live during her natural life or widowhood. I also give him 4 Negroes, John, Fanny, Siller and Abram. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son William Kilgore 80 acres of land part of the tract whereon he now lives more or less and 3 negroes Peter, Lucy and Lazes. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Ralph Kilgore 2 Negroes David and Dinah. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Tomberlin one negro girl named Bitha Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Anny Dunn one negro girl named Cyntha. Item: I give and bequeath to my son John M. Kilgore one negro girl named Luna Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Abigal Lee one negro girl named Aggy. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Benajah Kilgore 50 acres land more of less whereon Horatio Field now lives inkling the Spring for a home for him and mother and sister also one negro woman named Rose to be hired out for the of six years and then to be divided between Benajah and his sister Franky Kilgore Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Franky Kilgore one bed. Item: I give and bequeath unto my gran. Daughter Elizer Medford one negro girl named Moriah after the death of her mother Rebekah Medford

It is also my will that all the property that is not disposed of in this my last will is to be sold on twelve months credit and after paying all just demands to be divided equally between Martha Tomberlin and Anny Dunn.

And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my friend Starling Evans and Charly Kilgore whole and sole Executors with power to carry this my last will and testament into full and complete effect hereby revoking all former will or wills by me made and proclaim this to be my last willa nd testament. In witness whereas I have herunto set my name and affixed my seal this day and years above.

Georgia, Hancock County Inferior Court sitting for Ordinary purposes 7 th August 1820 The last will and testament of John Kilgore dec: was duly proven in open court by the oaths of James Grant, Matthew Brake and Frances Grant the subscribing witness to said will, which was ordered to be recorded and that letters testamentary be granted to Starling Evans and Chrly Kilgore the nominated Executors in said will to whom after being duly qualified letters were granted
