Note: Alice Bernice Kindley Blackwelder, 75, of 700 N.C. 49 S., No. 8, Concord, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Tucker Hospice House. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord, with the Rev. Rick Durham officiating. Burial will be at West Concord Cemetery. Mrs. Blackwelder was born May 8, 1933, the daughter of the late Jim Tinselo Kindley and the late Zettie Mae (Hudson) Kindley. She was employed by Cabarrus County Schools as a Food Line and Dish Room Worker. She retired from Weddington Hills Elementary. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, vegetables in particular. She loved bluegrass music played by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Parks Blackwelder and a son, Roy Lee Blackwelder. Survivors include sons, James "J.W." Blackwelder and wife, Becky, of Concord and Rickey Blackwelder and wife, Rosita, of Mount Pleasant; daughter, Janice (Blackwelder) Honeycutt and husband, Howard; brother, Cletus "Boots" Kindley of Harrisburg; sister, Claudine Cochran of Rockwell; grandchildren, Terry Dale and Benny Blackwelder, Robin Kratzer, Charles Honeycutt, Shelley and Ricky Lee Blackwelder and Kelley Cook; great-grandchildren, Paige, T.J. and Megan Blackwelder, Cheyenne and Kayla Blackwelder, Austin and Camryn Blackwelder, Dallas and Mason Cook, and Sophia Blackwelder. The family meeting place will be at her home, 700 N.C 49 S., No. 8, Concord. A special thanks to Dr. Andersen, Heritage Town Center of Harrisburg, and Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Arrangements by Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord.
