Richard King was born the son of William King & Elizabeth Beebe, 10 December 1755,[1] in Southold, New York Colony, or possibly on Gardiners Island located east of Orient Point on the North Fork of Long Island, New York.
He married Rachel Miller of East Hampton, New York in 1775.[2]
During the Revolutionary War, he became a refugee to Lyme, Connecticut.[3] After the war he was back at the Three Mile Harbor community in East Hampton, New York
He and his wife Rachel had an unnamed son 26 June 1776,[2] the family of three shown in the Census of 1776.[3] That son, or more likely the daughter christened in 1782, was the child who died 27 August 1783 in East Hampton.[4]

Richard died in East Hampton in 1797.[7] He is buried at the Richard King Cemetery at 15 Copeces Lane, East Hampton.
