George D. Kirkland was born on March 25, 1868[1], location uncertain.[2] He was the son of James Kirkland and Jenet Cairns. The family moved frequently. They lived in Houlton Maine,[3] St. Stephen, New Brunswick,[4] and Summerside, Prince Edward Island[5]
On June 25, 1982, George married Mildred Holbrook in Plymouth, Maine.[6] They had a daughter, Constance, in 1895.[7] and a son, Leigh, in 1897.[8]
The family moved to Newlon Township County, Dawson, Montana,[9] sometime between 1895 and 1897[10]
