Biography

Emma was born in 1876. She was the daughter of John Klafehn and Friederike Reamer. She passed away in 1926.

15 July 1926 Evening News of the Tonawandas Mrs. John F. Waterstrat Mrs. Emma Waterstrat, 49 years old, wife of John F. Waterstrat, died this morning at the Deaconess hospital, Buffalo, after a brief illness. Mrs. Waterstrat was born in Morton, N. Y. She had resided in Tonawanda for the past seven years. She was a member of the Ladies’ Aid society and the Sewing Circle of the Immanuel Lutheran church. Besides her husband Mrs. Waterstrat is survived by a daughter, Miss Marietta Waterstrat, a son, Walter Waterstrat, all of Tonawanda; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Klafehn; six sisters, Mrs. Henry Graupman, Mrs. John Nykamp, Mrs. John Diedrich, Mrs. Charles Leverenz, and Mrs. Albert Graupman of Hamlin, N. Y., and Mrs. William Bonke of Morton, and eight brothers, Frank, John, William, Walter, Hugo, Luther, Leo and Arthur Klafehn of Hamilton. Brief services will be held at the late residence at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon. At 1 o’clock Monday afternoon services will be conducted at the St. John’s Lutheran church in Hamlin, Rev. F. O. Scholz of the Immanuel church officiating. Burial will be at Lake Side cemetery, Hamlin.
