Note from Knight descendant

Y-DNA follows the male family line. My Y-DNA and that of a male cousin who was a descendant of Wiley David Knight, indicate our being related to a line of Knights that were in Bertie and Hertford Counties, N.C. during the 1700s. (Hertford Co. N.C. was formed from Bertie, Chowan, and Northampton Counties in 1759.) Y-DNA matches indicate that we are related to descendants of John (Jackie) Knight, born in Hertford Co., N.C. in about 1773. John is thought to be son of Jesse Knight, a Hertford Co. resident who died in the Revolutionary War. John (Jackie) Knight migrated to Georgia and then to Jones Co., Miss. (Some of his descendants were the subject of several books and the movie “Free State of Jones” Free State of Jones (film) - Wikipedia.)(Tommy E. Knight, 17 Jun 2023).
