Found an Ancestry.com tree that lists John David Carter Knight as the Father of William C Knight, the husband of Mary Carter, and the son of John Knight and Isabell Carter. However, the birth/death dates are 1738-1786.

Adding hypothesized brother David Knight who is also tied to Orange County and whose other descendants have DNA matches to support the connection.
Orange County was formed in 1752 from parts of Bladen, Granville, and Johnston Counties. Since there are records from Granville for the Knight, surname, using Granville as birth location instead of Orange in 1733.
