Lenny Kravitz is a Grammy Award-winning African-American singer-songwriter, music producer and actor.
Leonard Albert Kravitz, only child of Sy Kravitz and actress Roxie Roker, was born in Manhattan, New York in 1964.[1]
When he was 10 years old, he moved to Los Angeles with his parents since his mother had landed a role on "The Jeffersons" TV show. In Los Angeles he sang with the California Boys Choir for three years. [2]. He attended Beverly Hills High and made friends with other aspiring musicians, including Saul Hudson (aka "Slash") from the group Guns N' Roses.
Lenny released his first album "Let Love Rule" in 1989.[3] Since then, he has won 4 Grammy Awards, including winning the Best Male Rock Vocal Performance four years in a row (1999-2002) and had 9 nominations.[4]
Lenny married well-known actress from "The Cosby Show", Lisa Bonet, in 1987; they divorced in 1993 after having one daughter, Zoë, but have remained close.[5]
Lenny authored a memoir entitled "Let Love Rule" in 2020. [6]
